St. Pete Times Turkey Trot..
I owe you guys a Chicago report here, even though I posted one to the various running lists. To say Chicago rocked, is an understatement. Thank you once again to the LCAR folks there—- Pappy, Marty, Dan, JG and Barb (and your daughter), Gregg and Denise, Letty, Nick, Sid, Tommy, 5K Bob, Julia, Kathy, Marisa, Kathy’s daughter (I can’t remember your name) and once more for forgetting names… Letty’s sister and niece….and I’m sure I’m forgetting someone—to making this one of the greatest days of my life. Right up there on the top ten (or even FIVE) list. Can’t wait for next year. Only 41 weeks to go!!
Today was the annual turkey trot. Originally I was going to do both a 5K and a 10K, but since dinner reservations were pushed up i could only do the 5K. BUT the 5K had special meaning. I did this as a part of the Virtual LCAR team for the Thankful Four race in honor of Kelsey. I decided that I had to push the envelope just a bit. And push I did. I ended up doing a PR by 21 seconds…. 25:12. Could a sub 25 be far off?
I SO going to push it for the half marathon coming up on December 3. I want that PR so badly. I think that a 2:00:00 half isn’t out of the question; but I can feel it. I have a second chance to do it a week later on the 10th at the Madeira Beach half. Good way to see how Disney will go.
In other news, other stuff is going really well. I can’t wait to see how it goes for all that is happening for us. dave is doing really well. Mom is here and is enjoying the weather. work is going well and working lots. That is OK. More $ to spend at races…. and on races. The fact that the running is going well is only a side effect to other stuff going well…..
Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving filled with friends and family.
Things I’m thankful for:
Family: a really good solid family that cares and calls to say “hi” and encourages both dave and I to be ourselves in all we do.
Friends: Both online and otherwise… just the greatest bunch of encouraging folks who I consider extended family. Hope that they get everything they want and are healthy and happy.
Health: good health, and hope to remain injury free for as long as I can, keeping an eye on a couple of things to make sure all is well.
Dave: nuff said.
