Quickie Update

Not too much going on.  Doing lots of different projects at work, and enjoying it.  Taking it really easy today as I have to go in tomorrow….  did my longer workouts between yesterday and today, so I’m pretty much right on schedule for Chicago.  Dave and i went to Fleet Feet so that I could get a new pair of shoes.  They are absolutely the coolest running store.  Yeah, I spend a small fortune for running shoes over the course of a year, but its better than getting hurt!!

Still trying to get that CAT scan done.  I’m getting really tired fighting with the insurance company about this; will keep trying, but will definitely cancel the doctor’s appointment since there is no way that they can do the procedure plus get the results out by the time of the appointment.  Totally OK with me.  More time to workout that day and maybe even be able to get that contact lens appointment.  We shall see what happens.

A finally emailed Dave today with her new address.  She apologied for keeping quiet for a while, so all is pretty understandable. we made it through yesterday OK which would have been mom’s birthday.  I was good, and didn’t bring it up, but i know it was in the back of both of our minds.

OK, time to rest a bit.  Work is gonna be ‘fun’ tomorrow!!

Chicago Training continues and Disney catch up

Chicago training is going really well.  I have to tell you that the training has been extremely cathartic after all the happenings of the past month.  (More on that later).  I am down about 5-8 lbs, and am feeling really good….   My only problem is finding clothes that fit right; everything is kinda sorta hanging on me right now… but it feels like everything is getting easier.  Gotta push it a little, and increase the speeds on the treadmill and the intensity of the elliptical and increase the weights on the machines…..  Can you say PR?? I’m definitely dedicating my marathon to mom.  may have pictures on a button to wear during the race…

Dave convinced me to join up with Team In Training for the Disney Marathon.  I’ve already entered with GOOFY on my own, but he figured that I can network a little, meet some new running buds, network for him… plus not feel guilty of the |”GO TEAM” cheers all along the marathon route.   We’re going to a meeting on the 7th in Lithia, and the kick off meeting is on the 18th in ST. Pete.  To say that a PR there would be wonderful is an understatement.  Who knows what REAL training with folks will do for me… both for Disney and in Chicago…

Dave and I are doing OK with mom’s death.  Its still really tough for both of us.  I think we really miss her a lot.  Its so hard not to pick up the phone and say hi… whether if she was here with us or in MA.  We haven’t heard from Adrienne (or Evan, or any of the kids) since we got home.  I would think that someone would have called during the day, at least, to make sure that we are doing OK.. You would think!!

Its really hard for us to have some her stuff around us… the toby jugs, the dogs, and hard still, the ashes.  I’m lucky that i don’t have to see them naturally when walking around the house, as the urn fits in really well.  As weird as that sounds.

Work is going OK. Its gonna be a little better—especially with a day or two off during the weekend.  I’m psyched.  the lesser OT may be tough, but you know, i really miss dave when i’m working 65-75 hours a week… so going from bed to work to gym to bed is tough.  dave has been awesome about all this.  ..... still doing tons for debbie. enjoying all of it, though.

there’s more, but will be posting more over the weekend…..

Oh yeah, here’s the link for the fundraising….  http://www.active.com/donate/tntscfl/tntscflLRyan

Its also on the sidebar under upcoming races.  You guys know how much i hate asking for stuff, but TNT is a great thing.  I’ll have more info on my honored patient after my meetingon the 8th or 17th…... and will post it here….

Wow… its been a while

Sorry that i haven’t posted in a while.  Been working TONS.  Way too much.  Getting in the way of Chicago training.  Will definitely do something about that.  I will just do the workouts after work this month.  Only have two more days off this month.  And I think its not until a week from Satuday, and then the week after.  The schedule for next month is up, and i’m working 6 days a week every week, with the exception of the two day weekend the weekend of the tobykeith concert (friday and saturday) and then saturday each week after.  Works for me.  Long runs on Saturdays, and rest days on Sunday…...

A good friend (SID) has talked me into a half Thanksgiving weekend.  I may have to work on Friday, but that isn’t the issue.  I want the WHOLE weekend off.   At least i’ll have thanksgiving DAY off so that i can do that 5K I love doing.  Racing is going to be really important come the fall. I already need to ask for that time off NOW.  Its really sad that I need to do stuff like that 5 months ahead of time….. All I know is that I’m going to be in GREAT shape for GOOFY and beyond.

Did I mention that I am doing the Challenge at Gasparilla again this year?  I’m scared, but can’t wait.  Weight is down a few lbs now, but would like to lose another 10 lbs.  I’m trying to be really good.

Workouts continue to rock.  Feeling a little under the weather today, but nothing Nyquil won’t cure.

Oh yeah, things are getting a little easier.  Emotions are still really high, but we are getting there. Getting the ashes was tough, but its a comforting feeling that mom is still close by.  Yeah, it sounds weird, but its true.  The rest of the stuff is on its way, and that is going to be weird.  Haven’t heard from Adrienne since a wek or so after we left, but dave tells me it doesn’t really matter since we only heard from her when things weren’t good…....  l tend to agree.  (but I would think that she’d want her big brother to comfort her through this…..)

i promise to post more….. i’ve got thoughts to post on training….
