Thoughts of the day…

I’m no longer upset about Chicago. C’est la vie.  Now onward to Disney and a bunch of halves…. cannot wait.  Just feels way too easy.   I think, no, I WILL PR at all races. I’m still formulating a full report in my head, but whether or not its gonna be posted is another.

Question for you guys… i know i’ve asked before… butwhy haven’t i’ve done TNT before?  We calculated that the donation i’ll owe is the same as what it would have cost for the hotel by itself at GOOFY…. things that make you go hmmm…

Chicago Marathon… The GREAT, the good, the bad and the ugly

The GREAT.. seeing Pappy (and his friend Rob), Dan (and Carmen), JonGuy (and Barb—I think), and Marty to do the traditional send off… Seeing Letty and Lydia at the start chatting up a storm Seeing Sid around 5 miles looking good

The GOOD ... knowing I can run a 5:00 marathon.  I ran about 4 or so miles with a group from a Galloway group—doing the whole walk run thing.   I lost them in my incredible grabbing for water… but more about that in…..

The UGLY ... running out of water at the second water stop and then at other stops along the way.  It was obvious that this was the case when they started tearing down the area before the bulk of the runners got there.  Wish I brought my fuel belt.  Gatorade was out, too. I just did not train with it on, so i didn’t want to do anything new.  Couldn’t even do more than one GU without the water….

The BAD ... They shut down the race because they ran out of water further down along the course.  They diverted me and a bunch of folks at 25K.  Others were diverted before then. THe folks towards the end finished (one person told me that he was at 24 when they told him to walk…..).  IF I had my fuel belt, and they would have let me, I coulda finished….  even if i had to walk a bit ….

I guess the golden lining in all this is that they were looking out for the runners.  Dave told me that there were lines of ambulences near the finish, and i could hear tons of EMS vehicles during the race.

On to the next marathon—Disney (GOOFY) and the RnR.  AND Twin Cities in the fall.  (Its been decided)
