My Running Blog and Other Stuff

Well, i survived that bit of fun and games with the stuff at the ER.  On Monday, my pcp made me come in the next day to review test stuff with me.  Turns out that i have a fibroid in my uterus that has to be seen by my gyn.  lots of fun.  not anxious to see that bill.

Running is going well.  Gotta get in the hills on Tuesday nights.  its just really tough to get out there and do it.  once i’m there, no big deal for the miles.  its just getting there.  but it will happen.  just can’t stay after because have to get up early the next morning…...   the miles today just flew.   breakfast after was fun….

Work is going ok.  Gonna have some ot coming up soon.  that is *always* a good thing….. 

Not a very exciting day.  I spent the majority of it in the ER, and ending with a diagnosis of gastro enteritis…..  still in LOTS of pain, but scared to take the pain killers they gave me….   i will do it just so that i can get some sleep tonight….

I’ve added with the encouragement of Coach Rick to do the Run for Shelter (or something like that) 5K in Ybor City on Friday night.  LAST time I did a 5K at night, I was able to get my (then) PR in the distance, and that was after working a long day and long commute.   The weather looks to be right for this….  so I may push. Oh, yeah, did I mention that there is going to be free food and beer there?  The next day is our group run. I’m actually looking forward to running as partners with my folks since Rick needs to be at work… 

A friend from my Joy of Running group is in FL on holiday. Hoping to catch up with them on Saturday somewhere in Orlando for dinner or lunch or something…. I love meeting my virtual friends. ... always a good time!

In other news, I’m pretty much all set for the TCM (aka Twin Cities Marathon).... got my airline tickets on Monday (great price, about $115 cheaper than what it was for the past few weeks)... got the hotel reservation a month ago…. and only a month or so to go to register.  I’m on the same flights as Slow Twin, and we should be able to share a cab to the hotel if we don’t get a ride.  Maybe if we work this out right, we can see some other folks coming in and share the ride with yet more folks.  Dave feels SO much better that I’m not flying out alone and he knows who they are.  I get the feeling that he was really nervous with me going to chicago alone a couple of years ago….. 

Tomorrow Dave and I are back at the festival to see the Smothers Brothers.  Should be fun.  SUNDAY will rock.  We are going to the festival on its last day, and seeing Sugarland.  Work continues to be good…. stressful, but knowing that my run is just around the corner after the day is done is enough to get me through.

GREAT TNT run yesterday.  Did 7 miles, and felt absolutely great.  My Garmin died right at the beginning,so I can’t tell you how long the run took me.  When I was going to the turnaround point for the long distance, i saw a hole bunch of my folks heading back not far from that point.  Made me feel better about the speed.  Good to see Coach Steve there for the run, too… he hasn’t forgotten us.  Yeah, its a much smaller group this time, but that is OK.  Bound to be bigger for Disney again.

Hill workouts and tempo runs will start in two weeks.  I am bound to make at least the hill ones, since its on a Tuesday, and I can make it!!  (I’ll just stay at work a little longer, and thus making the wait not as bad….  just getting up early the next day may be tough. but i will survive…

Off to the gym for some treadmill stuff.  Then coming home, resting, and then going to the Strawberry Festival in town to see Alan Jackson tonight…..
